I've always been 'arty' and creative so when I left school it was obvious to me that my next move had to be to art college. It was here that I became interested in pattern and wanted a career in wallpaper design. For various reasons that never came to fruition so I decided to study for a degree so that I could teach art. 10 years, 1 husband, 1 child and many dogs later I did get my BA (Hons) with the OU and started my career in teaching (as it happens not in art). Circumstances led me to leave teaching in FE and start my own interiors business mainly selling paint, wallpapers and I did kind of get to the wallpaper in the end! A continuous desire to create encouraged me to draw again and I found an interest in drawing animals. I started to take on pet portrait commissions for a while but one day I fancied attending a local pottery class...I got hooked and here I am!

I now work from my studio on our small family farm in the middle of Devon near Dartmoor. I work with porcelain and stoneware using hand building and wheel throwing techniques. I love the versitility of these different clays and the contrasting results that can be achieved, the delicacy of the hand built porcelain compared to the robustness of the stoneware.

My influences and inspirations are mainly drawn from my surroundings, the view of Dartmoor being the most influential and my day to day life in the countryside. I'm Devonian so the county, countryside, sea and moors have always been a massive part of my life. I love to forage plant based materials on daily walks with my dog Murphy to use for mark making. My love of antique and vintage fabrics can often be seen within my porcelain work .

The best place to keep up to date with my latest work is to follow me on Instagram & Facebook or complete the contact form if there is something particular you would like to ask.

I generally attend the same shows and fairs every year and regularly sell in some florists, shops and galleries so keeping up to date with stock availability proves difficult. I also hold an annual exhibition in The Castle, Bude so follow me on those socials where I post dates of any upcoming events!
